Owner and Manager
Owner and Barn Manager of Hill Crest Farm LLC., Lisa has spent her life riding and successfully showing American Saddlebred Horses. Her showing career started when she was 7 years old. After her third lesson at Frank Person Stables her father bought her her very own horse named Joy. Lisa showed a few local shows with Joy and then she became the proud owner of Main Society. "Susie" and Lisa showed successfully in the 10 and under walk/trot division and then onto the the 13 and under junior division. When it was time to move into the 14 and older junior division Lisa again successfully showed Be Dazzled to many Championships. Then Lisa showed in the Ladies Amateur division with Annamotion and Cassandra's Fair Lady, to many ribbons.
In 2003 Lisa opened her own boarding and training facility and in August 2017, she expanded the farm to include a 16 stall barn and indoor ring. During this new adventure Lisa developed a love for a new discipline, dressage. Lisa is training under the guidance of Trisha Hessinger, FEI Dressage trainer to expand her knowledge and skills with her beloved two partners Concerto AKA: Rosie and Saint Peter AKA: Petey.
Lisa's brings years of experience, knowledge and continues to expand her knowledge of both riding and teaching by staying in weekly lessons, training program and by attending clinics both in and out of the saddle. Lisa has taken the opportunities to clinic with riders such as Betsy Steiner, Wolfgang Scherzer, Lauren Spierer and Marilyn Payne. She takes great pride in running a well organized, clean facility. Cleanliness, safety and the well-being of the horse and boarders is her number one priority.
Heather King, originally from Long Island, NY, grew up horse obsessed. Being the daughter of a single mother horse opportunities were few and far between. But, that didn’t stop Heather from dreaming and learning all she could! Just after Heather’s 16th Birthday a local farm that sat vacant for years was bought by a therapeutic riding program, Pal-O-Mine Equestrian, Inc. in 2004. Young and bright eyed, she started as a volunteer, helping with barn chores and aiding in lessons.
Through Heather’s hard work, knowledge and dedication, she quickly proved herself an asset to the program and as the years passed by, Heather rose to manage the barn while still carrying on a rigorous schedule of teaching both therapeutic riding and non-therapeutic riding lessons to kids and adults alike.
Heather has also dabbled in equine assisted learning and equine assisted psychotherapy through EAGALA.
After graduating from Molloy college in 2014 with BSN Heather decided to focus on her nursing career and resigned from her teaching/barn managing position. However, Heather still remained active with horses as she believes that horses are a life long learning experience. She’s ridden a little bit of everything! She rode and showed English for several years doing equitation, jumping and dressage. She then started getting into western riding while keeping a barrel horse in shape for her owner. Then, when Heather met her current riding partner, QTS Poco Skip (or, “Skippy”), she was instantly hooked on the look, feel and power of the reining horses!
While Heather’s heart is in reining and western performance horses, Heather also enjoys driving as it offers a different feel and connection with the horse. You can find her driving big grey Percherons through Bethlehem during the Christmas season, or for the odd special event! She’s also practices natural horsemanship techniques and started her own horse, Boomer, in 2018. She put countless miles on green horses on the trails and in the arena both riding and desensitizing. You may even catch Heather in the barn trimming her own horse’s feet! How’s that for being a passionate horse person and a lifelong learner!? Heather rarely passes up an opportunity to grow as a horsewoman!
While Heather’s passion is reining and western performance riding she firmly believes good horsemanship should never be compromised, regardless of what saddle you choose to sit in! She’s find great joy in helping find people their perfect equine partners or helping existing partners become a better teams!
